I am officially in love with Argo

Argo opened its amazing doors officially on July 15 2021 in the Four Seasons hotel. I would anticipate that this is going to be a new happening spot in HK. Please scroll down to see the review.

The Review

  • (D)rinks - 10/10

We ordered a beautiful bottle of champagne called Henriot which tasted absolutely divine. if you havernt tried this brand of wines and champagne before I would very highly recommend it. The champagne came with multicoloured prawn crackers and pickles which was a very nice touch and was well received by me and my friends. I personally loved the complimentary snacks and I particularly loved the fact that the prawn crackers were multicoloured giving it a more classier feel.

I didn’t order the cocktails but the menu looked amazing - see the “recommend yay or nay” section of this review for more discussions on the cocktails.

Thus, based on the champagne that I had, and the complimentary snacks which I enjoyed I have rated the drinks a 10/10. I will come back again and try the cocktails though.

  • (A)mbience - 10/10

One word to describe the ambience is ‘trendy’ and other words are stylish, fun, sophisticated and plush.

The decor is beautiful, lots of mirrors, gold finishing’s, stylish chairs, romantic lighting. This is absolutely my kind of place and that is why I rated it 10/10.

The aura gives me sex in the city vibes - its definitely a place I would go to with my girls, dressed up and just looking to catch up and enjoy some good drinks. I personally would also go to this place solo. it completely ticks my fancy.

if you are keen to impress then this place is an excellent date spot.

I would say the dress code is smart casual. It doesn’t strike me as the right place for a business meeting though but it may be ok for that during the day. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a glamourous, plush kind of ambience.

  • (B)athroom - 7/10

As you know I love a good bathroom and for HK this is a good bathroom. It has enough space and it is easy on the eyes given it is surrounded in marble, very glossy and super clean. I was so happy to find a place that the bathroom did not disappoint.

The bathroom also had nice hand towels which is a plus and to be honest I wouldn’t expect this type of venue to just have paper towels.

Annoyingly I cant remember what soap they had but it cant have been bad because I don’t remember thinking that. So overall its a pretty good bathroom and I would happily use it again.

  • Recommend - Yay or Nay

Its a strong recommendation of a big yay for me. The only limitation I can foresee is the location but personally I think the location could also be its vantage point as well because it is to some extent away from queens road, LKF and soho. You can locate it by walking through the IFC mall or jump in a quick taxi and drop off at the four seasons.

It also has some outside space which if you are like me and always like to be outside it caters for that, the views are ok - any view in HK is mostly amazing to me but its not super high up so its not a rooftop view. Nonetheless I cannot fault this bar and I will come back again. If not to at least try the cocktails.

I love the concept of the cocktail menu too. Basically they have a theme for example Vanilla, Rice, Honey, coffee and they base the cocktail around that theme. Its a really unique concept that I havernt seen being explained in as much depth as it is in the menu in any other spot. See the picture above and you’ll get the idea.

Other notable points, the menu was clean- which I liked - gosh I am starting to sound crazy but some places don’t give clean menus which i’m like hmm, I loved the fact that they provided coasters which had the name Algo on it. The service was good enough but it was the official opening night and it was busy so I think I need to come back again to rate the service.

So yes I would highly recommend and yes I cant wait to come back again.
